Georges Haussmann - French civil engineer and town planner. Hired by Napoleon III to rebuild and modernize Paris. Haussman's plan included uniform building heights, grand boulevards, and anchoring elements including the Arc de Triomphe and the Grand Opera House. Cities like Chicago, London and Moscow have Haussmann influences in their city plans.
